| Project Overview | Implemented by Campaign Nepal for Research and Development with financial and technical support from CARE Nepal, the UDAAN: Empowering Girls through Education project aims to improve equitable access to quality education for out-of-school and marginalised girls in Nepal. The project supports girls’ enrolment, retention, and transition into formal education through alternative learning opportunities, remedial education, teacher capacity building, community engagement, and advocacy. By strengthening collaboration among schools, local governments, families, and communities, the project contributes to creating a safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive learning environment where every girl has the opportunity to learn and thrive. |

| Key Activities | A1: Conducted a baseline survey to identify out-of-school girls and assess barriers to education. A2: Facilitated regular learning classes for out-of-school girls using the Government of Nepal-approved Alternative Education curriculum. A3: Supported the enrolment and reintegration of out-of-school girls into formal schools. A4: Organised teacher training on student learning assessment, including the use of diagnostic assessment tools and learner-centred instructional approaches. A5: Conducted remedial classes for academically struggling students to improve foundational learning and educational achievement. A6: Facilitated Social Analysis and Action (SAA) sessions with parents and caregivers of children enrolled in UDAAN classes and formal schools to strengthen parental engagement and support for girls’ education. A7: Promoted community awareness and advocacy on girls’ education, gender equality, and the importance of school retention through community mobilisation and stakeholder engagement. |
