Campaign Nepal Observes International Anti-Fraud Day

Campaign Nepal commemorated International Anti-Fraud Day on Sunday at the organization’s office in Gaur to raise awareness about the importance of integrity and transparency.

This year, the International Fraud Awareness Week is observed globally from November 17 to 24.

The program was attended by over 36 employees, who participated in various activities aimed at combating fraud and promoting ethical conduct.

The event featured interactive quizzes, discussions, and educational sessions to deepen understanding of fraud prevention strategies.

Executive Director Shatrudhan Singh addressed the attendees, emphasizing the ethical responsibilities of community workers. He said:

We do not show our greed when we work for the community. We have to utilize resources properly to maintain our integrity.

During the event, the orientation and awareness sessions facilitated by the organization provided employees with the tools to identify fraudulent activities, understand their impact, and take steps to prevent them. Quizzes and interactive discussions served as engaging methods to reinforce knowledge and encourage active participation in fraud prevention efforts.

All employees pledged to uphold integrity, report any incidents of fraud, and work diligently to protect organizational values. Signing the integrity pledge was a symbolic act of their commitment to ethical practices.

Extending Awareness to the Community

Building on the momentum of the event, Campaign Nepal announced plans to extend the anti-fraud awareness initiative to the community level. Over the course of a week, the organization will conduct various activities such as workshops, interactive discussions, street plays, and door-to-door campaigns to educate local residents on the importance of fraud prevention. This community-centric approach aims to empower individuals with knowledge, fostering a collective stand against fraud in all its forms.

History of International Fraud Awareness Week

International Anti-Fraud Day is part of Fraud Awareness Week, an initiative started in 2000 by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). Since its inception, Fraud Week has focused on educating organizations and individuals worldwide about the importance of fraud prevention and detection. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the ACFE’s global campaign, which continues to play a pivotal role in highlighting the risks of fraud and promoting proactive measures to combat it.

Fraud, defined as an intentional act of deception for unlawful gain, manifests in various forms, including financial fraud, identity theft, voter fraud, and healthcare fraud. Historical cases, such as Charles Ponzi’s notorious scheme in 1920, remind us of the enduring challenges posed by fraudulent activities.

The inclusion of interactive and educational activities underscored the importance of collective efforts in promoting ethical practices.

Through this initiative, Campaign Nepal hopes to inspire other organizations and individuals to prioritize integrity, ensuring a more transparent and just society.
